I offer group supervision for psychotherapists and supervisors.
The groups I offer are focused around themes that have been specialties for me in my practice and which I feel are important for psychotherapists to reflect on in developing their own positions, approaches and integration in their work and it is with pleasure that I hold groups that can support such a process. The groups are a space for consultative reflection regarding client practice.
Each of these groups is offered once per calendar month, with dates proposed and agreed in advance. Occasionally the groups may be on hiatus but otherwise I offer them on an ongoing basis throughout the year.
Meetings take place online.
Each session is two hours in duration.
The fee for each session is £50 per supervisee, becoming payable each month after the dates for each sequence are fixed.
For each of these groups, please contact me to express interest. If you have not worked with me previously, I would suggest that we meet in individual supervision before the group.
GROUP A – on embodiment in the therapeutic relationship
Typically on a Monday 14:00-16:00
In any therapeutic relationship, be that one-to-one, multiple-to-one or group, there are necessarily multiple bodies present and in my experience as a Relational Body Psychotherapist these can be a source of information, insight and wisdom, and as the body is the site of our experiencing, it is also communicative and significant relationally and developmentally.
How do we integrate our bodily being into all aspects of our psychotherapeutic practices? And how do we invite our clients/patients to include their bodies in psychotherapeutic reflection and exploration? What might emerge in the therapeutic situation from doing so?
Reflection on embodied practice may involve sharing and listening to how we each do so and discussion of some of the skills and attitudes we find facilitative. This is primarily a Supervision group rather than a training although in reflecting upon how we each do what we do I imagine we might implicitly learn something from one another and deepen our practices.
Please contact me to express interest. Dates for upcoming sequence to be proposed and agreed.
GROUP B – on psychotherapy with the Earth in mind
Typically on a Tuesday 14:00-16:00
A group focused on what it is to bring an ecopsychology framing and attitude – with its expanded container and rich imaginative possibilities – as a layer in psychotherapeutic relationships and exploration. What if we held the Earth, and more generally, the other-than-human (Totton (2011) (2021)), in mind. What can the ‘wild’ (Totton (2011) (2021)) and eco-systemic perspectives offer to a psychotherapeutic process and practice with clients/patients? Might we dream of working in an ecopsychology-informed way? How does it already integrate into your work and what if it could?
This is primarily a Supervision group rather than a training although in reflecting upon how we each do what we do I imagine we might implicitly learn something from one another and deepen our practices.
Please contact me to express interest. Dates for upcoming sequence to be proposed and agreed.
GROUP C – on psychotherapy with or as a highly sensitive person
Typically on a Wednesday 14:00-16:00
A group to reflect on experiences in practice with the Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) (Aron (1999)) in psychotherapy. What is it to include the HSP trait in a psychotherapeutic relationship and how does this inform, influence and enhance relational exploration, beyond being a label, in meeting a client/patient when highly sensitive persons may well, for some of our practices, be in the majority of our clients/patients while forming perhaps 20% of the general population? And what might it mean for practice to be a highly sensitive psychotherapist?
This is primarily a Supervision group rather than a training although in reflecting upon how we each do what we do I imagine we might implicitly learn something from one another and deepen our practices.
Please contact me to express interest. Dates for upcoming sequence to be proposed and agreed.
GROUP D – on difference, inclusion and identity
Typically on a Thursday 14:00-16:00
A group to reflect on what it is for our psychotherapeutic practices to meet our clients/patients in our layered, intersectional identities and how these enter your therapeutic relationships. How do we include, honour and welcome these aspects of ourselves and our clients/patients, and find our ways without it becoming prescriptive, or a super-ego mandate individually or collectively, or dissociated? Might the inclusion of these aspects, which may be regarded as some of the complexity of being human, actually deepen therapeutic relationships, which is what I have experienced? And how do we each do so?
This is primarily a Supervision group rather than a training although in reflecting upon how we each do what we do I imagine we might implicitly learn something from one another and deepen our practices.
Please contact me to express interest. Dates for upcoming sequence to be proposed and agreed.
GROUP E – on Supervision
Typically on a Friday 11:00-13:00
A supervision group for Supervisors to reflect on Supervision practice in all its aspects.
This is primarily a Supervision group rather than a training although in reflecting upon how we each do what we do I imagine we might implicitly learn something from one another and deepen our practices.
Please contact me to express interest. Dates for upcoming sequence to be proposed and agreed.
