Srik is a filmmaker with fourteen years experience writing, producing and directing award-winning documentaries and drama-docs. His films have been shown around the world by broadcasters including the BBC, Channel 4, Discovery and National Geographic.
He has specialised in making distinctive and intelligent narrative films, in all forms - scripted and unscripted. He seeks out compelling and challenging human stories, which require imaginative and unconventional methods of visual storytelling and a strong sense of authorship.
Amongst his most notable films is the stylised documentary 'The Man Who Ate His Lover' (Channel 4) which was nominated for Best Single Documentary at the Televisual Awards and tells the story of Armin Meiwes, the German cannibal who found an apparently willing victim over the Internet, docu-drama 'Kill Me If You Can' (Channel 4) and hybrid comedy/performance documentary 'Dirty Fan Mail' (Channel 4).
He has also sought to make more conceptual pieces that could not be told as conventional narratives, like acclaimed film ‘Human Zoo’ (Channel 4) which used experimental interview techniques and evocative imagery to paint a historical narrative about the roots of our modern-day feelings about race, and the Indie-award-winning ‘What We Still Don’t Know’ (Channel 4) which translated the mesmerising philosophical questions now being posed by scientists into a curious visual exploration of our place in the world.
His work has been critically acclaimed in everything from the Sun to the Financial Times which praised his films as 'intelligent and illuminating'. The Sunday Times recently described them as television documentary 'at its best'. His films have also been featured in Televisual and Broadcast which said his work 'pulls out all the stops'.
Srik originally studied physics and started off working on science documentaries, including BAFTA and RTS winning seasons of the flagship BBC science series 'Horizon'. He still retains a strong passion for telling stories about scientific ideas.
Early in his career he won a coveted place on 'Metroland', the showcase for new documentary directors. Since then his work has taken him all over the world.
